Student Research Assistant: CTED Summer Field Internship in Ghana

This is an opportunity for NYUAD students to join Professor Yaw Nyarko and his research team in Ghana for an intensive summer field internship. Funding for this opportunity is provided through the Undergraduate Research Program and this is mainly for NYUAD sophomores and juniors, however other NYUAD students can still apply through Professor Nyarko’s research grant.

Funding for this opportunity is through the Undergraduate Research Program and this is mainly for NYUAD sophomores and juniors, however other NYUAD students can still apply through Professor Nyarko’s research grant.

Research Assistant: Post-Graduation Practical Training Program, Abu Dhabi 

This is a summer job opportunity for NYUAD students who will be graduating in May 2018.  The Research Assistant will work with a team of experienced researchers using technology to solve problems related to economic development in emerging economies. He/she will gather and analyze data collected from different project sites as well as the data collected from different sources. Additionally, for those with the interest or experience, there are opportunities to work on Computer Science and programming related projects.

Student Research Assistant: Student Assistantship Program, Abu Dhabi 

The Student Assistantship Program (managed by NYUAD Human Resources) provides students the opportunity to earn money through part-time, hourly jobs in campus administration or operations. Student assistantships are held by current matriculated students on the Abu Dhabi campus for up to 10 months at a time. Student assistantships provide students with hands-on, practical work experience. However, the work does not need to be in a field usually related to their major and/or aligned to her/his career interests.

Student Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 18 years old. If a student is under 18 years of age, the NYUAD Dean of Students must authorize this exception.
  • Must be studying in Abu Dhabi.
  • Required to be full-time students in good academic standing.
  • If a student assistant leaves her/his position for a break of more than 30 consecutive days at any time, the assistantship will be terminated. Students must re-apply for any available positions and, if selected/re-selected, will be treated as new student assistants.

Work Schedule/Compensation:

A schedule will be chosen based on the position’s required hours and the student’s availability, with the following regulations considered:

  • Students are paid a non-negotiable stipend of AED 30 per hour with a maximum of 15 hours per week, irrespective of class level, or the number of assistantships held. J-Term and Summer Term assistantships are limited to 10 hours per week.
  • A contract with a department cannot exceed 10 months.
  • A one-hour unpaid lunch break should be scheduled if the student is serving six or more consecutive hours in a day.
