Kumawu, Ghana, will take center stage on October 9 as part of Africa 7: Run Your Purpose, a continent-wide initiative featuring seven marathons in seven African countries over seven days.
The Ghana leg is being hosted in Kumawu by Professor Yaw Nyarko and the Center for Technology, Economics, and Development (CTED). The event brings together sport, entrepreneurship, education and community engagement, reflecting CTED’s commitment to creating opportunities that connect local communities with Africa’s broader development story.
Africa 7 is hosted by ABO Capital, with Olympian, running coach and global marathon advisor Roberto Mandje running all seven marathons as the initiative’s lead ambassador. The campaign seeks to showcase Africa’s resilience, ambition and economic potential while highlighting opportunities in areas including technology, healthcare, tourism, energy, education and entrepreneurship.
The seven-day journey will begin in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on October 5 and continue through São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Rwanda and Angola, with Kumawu serving as the fifth stop on October 9.
For Ghana, the focus is innovation through entrepreneurship, making Kumawu an important stop in a journey designed to demonstrate that Africa’s future is being shaped not only in major cities, but also in communities across the continent.
“We are excited to welcome Africa 7 to Kumawu,” said Professor Yaw Nyarko. “This is an opportunity to bring sport, young people, education and entrepreneurship together while connecting our community to a larger African story.”
