NBER Summer Institute – Development Economics

  • Cambridge, MA United States (map)

Overview:

The “NBER Summer Institute – Development Economics” is hosted by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and presents studies that contribute to economic development, particularly in less developed nations. It explores the role of decisions by households, firms, and governments, the effects of development aid policies, and the consequences of rising incomes in emerging economies. Professor Yaw Nyarko attended this conference and engaged participants in conversations on our work on AI, blockchain, economics, and agricultural markets. Through past participation in this conference, Professor Nyarko met with Nobel Laureate Professor Michael Kremer, which resulted in his current Agriculture Innovation Mechanism for Scale (AIM for Scale) research, which develops tailored packages and mobilizes investments to bring cost-effective, scalable innovations to hundreds of millions of farmers. This research project is funded by the Gates Foundation.
