IFC-World Bank Group AGORA Conference in Palermo, Italy
Prof. Yaw Nyarko joined high-level government officials from Italy and African countries, representatives from international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, as well as prominent experts and leading development voices from think tanks, academics, the private sector, and policy institutions for the inaugural edition of the AGORA Conference. AGORA (Africa Growth and Opportunity: Research in Action) is the flagship platform of the World Bank Group Institute for Economic Development and the IFC - International Finance Corporation to translate research into action for Africa. It is designed as an open arena where African and European institutions set the agenda together, ensuring balanced ownership and accountability.
The transformative priorities for 2025 were:

• Agricultural Transformation and Job Creation
Prof. Yaw Nyarko joined Saweda Liverpool-Tasie, Robert Darko Osei, and Johan Swinnen for a panel session titled "Agribusinesses to Accelerate Growth". This panel was moderated by Emmanuel Owusu-Sekyere. During the session, Prof. Nyarko spoke about the importance of supporting farmers leveraging technology and research as a way to improve economic outcomes in Africa. He spotlighted the technology that the Center for Technology, Economics, and Development (CTED) has deployed in our work with farmers in Ghana.
